Manchester United’s promised midfield overhaul is well underway, with two of the three promised signings already in the bag. Among several names to be next is Manu Kone.
Having already signed Andrey Santos for £48m from Chelsea, followed by Manchester United’s shrewd move for Youri Tielemans costing £35m, Ineos are two-thirds of the way to rebuilding the midfield.
It was a necessary summer of midfield focus, with Casemiro departing for free and Manuel Ugarte tearing his ACL during the World Cup. So the two signings are simply not enough, with United pursuing a third in the summer.
There are a lot of names being considered already, but Manu Kone of France is probably the current most likely of those linked, especially when United holds an ace card.
Would Roma’s Manu Kone be a good signing for Man Utd?

Manchester United’s chances of signing Manu Kone
This summer has ended up being relatively stress-free for Manchester United.
When Ineos have properly gone for a player, the deal hasn’t taken more than a few days from reports of talks to pictures of the player holding a United shirt.
United seem to be moving for players who they are able to wrap up fairly fast, and Manu Kone could be exactly that.
This is because Fabrizio Romano has claimed that United’s chief executive officer, Omar Berrada, actually has a “very strong relationship” with Kone’s agents.
The relationship would be pivotal for any deal to go through smoothly, with the Italian reporter adding that United have been in contact for Kone this week.
With a healthy relationship, and Roma not expected to demand huge money for Kone, this is a deal which could follow the Santos and Tielemans example, going from zero to 100 very fast in the coming weeks.

Manu Kone set to wrap up World Cup involvement this weekend
Talk around Kone being a midfield addition this summer has been heating up fairly quickly this summer, with more eyes on his outings for France during the World Cup.
Kone has been impressive during the World Cup, and now that France are set to conclude their campaign on Saturday in the third-placed play-off against England, he will soon be turning his focus to his club future.
Tielemans signed for United three days after Belgium’s World Cup ended, and if United are set on Kone, a deal could quite feasibly be completed by this stage next week.
So the question is really down to whether United sees Kone as the perfect third signing for the midfield this summer. It feels like a transfer Jason Wilcox could have done in an instant.
