Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has welcomed ex teammate Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.
Ronaldo won one Champions League at Manchester United, and another four with Real Madrid.
Scholes joked that Ronaldo had lost a little bit of form since leaving United, and hoped he would recapture it.
Ronaldo is set to undergo a medical before being formally unveiled as a Manchester United player.
Strength to strength
It’s true, Ronaldo has changed since leaving Manchester United back in 2009.
He is different type of player, more of a traditional centre-forward. This change was prompted by a knee injury while at Real Madrid.
Ronaldo is not exactly slowing down though. Even at the age of 36 he is a prolific goalscorer.
The Portugal star is the joint record international goalscorer of all time, and while at Juventus, he scored 101 goals in three seasons.
He has his work cut out to defy the high expectations there are for him, but this is Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been breaking down barriers his whole career.
Scholes knows what it is like to stage a comeback too, famously coming out of retirement to win a league title.
Hopefully Ronaldo’s return will be just as a successful and then some.
