The prospect of Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo linking up for Manchester United is an incredible prospect.
The two players have faced off against each other for club and country, but never played on the same team.
The idea has been touted previously. Real Madrid were once desperate to bring Pogba to the Bernabeu to play with Ronaldo, The Guardian reported.
And then there was the fanciful prospect of Juventus trying to re-sign Pogba to partner him up with Ronaldo in 2018, reported at the time by The Mirror.
Perhaps the most unlikely situation of all has played out; Pogba has stayed for now and United have brought Ronaldo to Old Trafford to play alongside him.
Huge fan
Pogba spoke in 2018 about his admiration for Ronaldo before Manchester United’s Champions League group stage ties with Juventus.
It was then Pogba spoke about what a dream it would be to play alongside the forward.
Quoted by The Sun speaking at a press conference, Pogba said: “Having Cristiano is always good for the team, playing with great players like him, Messi or Neymar is always a pleasure.
“I think he’s happy to be here and I think it’s a great thing for Juve to have a player who scores goals like drinking water.”
Ronaldo lived up to his billing at Juventus with a staggering 101 goals in 133 matches.
Pogba spoke positively about the Ronaldo when quizzed by the television cameras after the win over Wolves.
Pogba told Sky’s cameras: “Everybody knows [what he brings]. He’s already a legend in this club and he’s coming back, so obviously it’s huge for us, for the club.
“He’s going to bring his experience, his quality and obviously when he comes the level goes up. We’re really pleased he’s coming but the most important today is the win so when he comes we keep this mentality of winning, and keep winning.”

Any team with Pogba and Ronaldo is good enough to compete with the very best.
