Micah Richards spoke highly of one Manchester United star’s performance in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final match in charge of the Red Devils as interim manager.
Ruud van Nistelrooy secured three wins and one draw in his four-match stint as interim manager after Erik ten Hag was axed from Manchester United.
The 48-year-old United legend returned to Old Trafford in the summer and became part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff after taking up his role as assistant manager.
However, Van Nistelrooy’s long-term future at the Premier League club had been uncertain amid Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has been appointed Ten Hag’s permanent successor at United and the former Sporting CP boss is expected to bring his own team in at the club.
United triggered the £9.25m release clause in the 39-year-old Portuguese manager’s Sporting CP contract after Ten Hag was sacked by the Red Devils.

Richards talks up Man Utd star
Ruud van Nistelrooy signed off his interim Manchester United managerial spell with a 3-0 Premier League win over Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the Premier League encounter on Sunday before Victor Kristiansen extended United’s lead by putting the ball in his own net.
Alejandro Garnacho netted United’s third in the second half and Van Nistelrooy’s men sealed all three points against Leicester City.
United’s 3-0 victory over the Foxes has the Red Devils in 13th place in the Premier League table and the club are only four points off the top four.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Micah Richards praised Bruno Fernandes for his impact in the match and his superb opener against Leicester City.
“I think his overall performance was really good,” he said.
“Little backheel from [Amad] Diallo, wasn’t it? And then he finished it off.
“The second goal was sort of going wide and he sort of touched it. It has gone down as an own goal, hasn’t it?”

Speaking after Sunday’s result, Van Nistelrooy praised United captain Fernandes for “helping the team the most” and making his presence felt on a milestone match.
“He can always try! It’s a good sign,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“He’s scored a few important goals and got back on the scoresheet, and is assisting as well, for Garnacho’s goal.
“At least he’s back producing goals and assists and that’s the Bruno helping the team the most.
“He’s done that on a special occasion as well as he had his 250th game today.”
