Ruud van Nistelrooy has ended his time as Manchester United’s interim manager unbeaten after a 3-0 win over Leicester City.
Bruno Fernandes ran the show on his 250th Manchester United appearance to help the Red Devils pick up an important three points at Old Trafford.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was handed temporary charge after Erik ten Hag was sacked and he started with a 5-2 win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup. Less than two weeks later, he has masterminded another dominant win over the Foxes.
Ruben Amorim has now been appointed as the new head coach of United, and he is set to take charge on Monday morning.
The 39-year-old surely tuned in to watch his soon-to-be squad. Here are five things learned from United’s win:

Amad Diallo must keep his spot
Amad Diallo hogged the headlines after scoring twice in United’s 2-0 win over PAOK on Thursday evening.
The 22-year-old had to wait patiently for an opportunity to start but he grabbed it with both hands and kept his spot in the side against Leicester.
Once again, Amad Diallo was brilliant off the right-hand side. He provided great balance to United’s attacking trio and was full of confidence as he weaved through Leicester’s defence.
As Ruben Amorim weighs up who will start in his 3-4-3 system, Amad has certainly put his name in the mix.
Bruno Fernandes makes his mark
It was a landmark match for Fernandes, who was handed a framed shirt by Sir Jim Ratcliffe before kick-off in celebration of his 250th United appearance.
He marked the occasion with a simply brilliant performance. United’s captain put on a masterclass after scoring the opener and playing a big part in the second – which eventually went down as an own goal.
There have been plenty of questions about where Fernandes fits into Amorim’s system, but one thing has become clear – United’s new boss has to find a space for him somewhere.
Man United in great shape for international break
With no injuries suffered against Leicester, it seems United will enter the international break almost at full strength.
Leny Yoro and Mason Mount are back in training, while Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are also nearing a return.
We are two weeks away from Amorim’s first match against Ipswich Town and – barring any injuries over the international break – he should have a full squad to pick from.
Ruud van Nistelrooy proves his worth
Ruud van Nistelrooy has not put a foot wrong since taking charge at Old Trafford.
He started and finished his time as manager with emphatic wins over Leicester and is unbeaten in his four games.
Amorim will hold crunch talks with Van Nistelrooy over his future at the club on Monday morning.
As it stands, it’s hard to argue that Van Nistelrooy could have done anything more to earn a spot in the backroom staff.
Alejandro Garnacho answers emphatically
The big news from Van Nistelrooy’s team selection was that Alejandro Garnacho was left out.
The 20-year-old is United’s top scorer this season and he added to his tally with an incredible curling effort late on.
Amorim prefers to provide width through wing-backs and it is yet to be seen how he plans to fit Garnacho into his plans.
