BBC Sport pundit Troy Deeney picked out three Manchester United stars for his Premier League Team of the Week after the 3-0 win against Leicester City.

Manchester United welcomed Leicester City to Old Trafford on Sunday and the Red Devils sealed all three Premier League points under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Bruno Fernandes fired United into the lead in the first half before the Red Devils doubled their advantage thanks to Victor Kristiansen putting the ball in his own net.

United ensured a comfortable win over Leicester City after Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench and netted the Red Devils’ third of the contest.

Sunday’s 3-0 result against Foxes was the final match in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim managerial spell ahead of the November international break.

Van Nistelrooy was appointed interim manager after Erik ten Hag was axed from Old Trafford, with the United legend taking charge of the Red Devils for four matches.

The 48-year-old Dutchman, who was assistant manager to former United manager Erik ten Hag, led the Red Devils to three wins and a draw under his short reign.

Deeney on ‘shoutout’ for Man Utd star

Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are only four points adrift from the top four after the win over Leicester City.

Ruben Amorim will permanently succeed Erik ten Hag as United manager after leaving Sporting CP, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future at Old Trafford uncertain.

Speaking in his BBC Sport column, Troy Deeney praised the performance of Noussair Mazraoui against Leicester City and how he dealt with the “threat” of Abdul Fatawu.

Noussair Mazraoui, who was signed from Bayern Munich, was deployed out on the left while Diogo Dalot started the Leicester City match on the right.

The 26-year-old Morocco international saw out the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford, while Diogo Dalot was hooked off in the second half and replaced by Jonny Evans.

“The full-back gets a shoutout because Diogo Dalot was given the runaround by Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu – he had a tough time,” Deeney said.

“United took Dalot off, moved Mazraoui over and he nullified that threat.”

Bruno Fernandes was a standout performer in the Premier League clash and Deeney praised the United skipper for making his presence felt at the “critical stages.”

“Here’s where we send the internet into meltdown because I’m dropping Bruno back to play alongside Joelinton,” Deeney said.

“He wasn’t great throughout the game but at critical stages he scores massive goals. He just settles it down when they need him.

“He’s had his leadership questioned a lot but he came out after the game and spoke well about his teammate Alejandro Garnacho.”

Andre Onana also secured his place in the Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week after he kept a clean sheet and made “some big saves” in the match.

“People may say that ‘it was only against Leicester’ but he made some big saves to keep it level, particularly his stop to keep out Wilfred Ndidi,” Deeney said.

“His distribution was miles better, too.”
