Manchester United and the Mercedes Formula One have become linked by new sponsor TeamViewer.
TeamViewer followed their United deal by announcing a five-year sponsorship with Mercedes this week.
The tech company will replace Chevrolet on the Manchester United shirt from next season, who were the club’s principal shirt sponsor, and the automobile sponsor.

This has left a vacant spot for United’s automobile sponsor, to generate extra cash.
To join the dots together, it’s possible Mercedes may be sought out by United for a tie-up.
Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff was asked about this, and dodged the question, saying it was above his paygrade, that he would, “leave it up to the people in Stuttgart.”
Wolff did speak in excited terms about the connection between Mercedes and Manchester United.
He told GPFans.com: “I’m particularly proud to join up with the same group with Manchester United. TeamViewer has entered sports royalty and it’s great for us to be a part of it.
“I believe the two platforms can work very well together for TeamViewer because we are accessing very different audiences.
“It’s almost covering the whole spectrum of fans and supporters in the sports world, with Manchester United among the best known and strongest football teams around the world. We play that part in high-tech sports, so there is a good fit.
“I can tell you from my experiences that learning from each other, in terms of performance, pressure and how to cope with expectations for ourselves and leadership, there are a lot of cases we can mutually share in order for both teams to enhance their performances.”
This seems like a connection which can only benefit United behind the scenes.
When United tied up the deal with TeamViewer, The Times reported that United turned down higher monetary offers, and chose the German firm because there were extra benefits to the deal which would later become clear.
TeamViewer’s investment in Formula One’s top team shows their determination to be linked up with the best, and there appears to be some faith on their part that United will rediscover past glories on the pitch.
