Rio Ferdinand believes that Marcus Rashford’s spell at the Camp Nou is dependent on one thing that Hansi Flick will want to see from the Manchester United player.
Barcelona are set to sign Marcus Rashford from the Red Devils and the Manchester United player has the opportunity to complete a ‘dream’ move to the Camp Nou.
Rashford has been heavily linked with Barcelona this summer after the 27-year-old United forward returned to Old Trafford following the end of his Aston Villa spell.
The Barcelona-bound player spent the second half of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign at Aston Villa after he fell down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.
Villa had the option to make Rashford’s move to Villa Park permanent for a £40m transfer fee, but the Premier League club opted against the transfer this summer.
Rashford had been linked with clubs in both Europe and Saudi Arabia amid Barcelona’s interest in the wantaway United and England attacker.

Rio Ferdinand predicts what Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will require from Man Utd and England player Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford’s loan deal with Aston Villa expired on 30th June and the Three Lions star had been training alone at the Carrington complex since his return.
The United talent had been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and Rashford was left out of the start of the pre-season tour under Ruben Amorim.
Rashford travelled to Spain on Sunday and arrived in Catalonia ahead of completing his move to Barcelona, with United giving him permission to travel to the country.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand offered his two cents on Rashford and what the former Villa star could now expect playing for the Spanish club.
The 46-year-old United legend suggested that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will be keen to see what Rashford can offer as an alternative attacking option for his side.
When discussing Rashford’s move to Barcelona, he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents: “Where he [Rashford] fits in won’t be is he going to start, it’s what’s the difference that he makes?
“I think Flick will be wanting that as well, ‘Give us something different to what we’ve already got.’
“Raphinha on the left, [Robert] Lewandowski up front, Lamine Yamal on the right.
“He doesn’t automatically start in this team, but he could go in there and be a huge impact and then get games off the back of that impact.
“But Marcus doesn’t have to go in there and displace anybody.”
Rio Ferdinand’s warning to former Aston Villa star Marcus Rashford ahead of his transfer from Man Utd to Barcelona
Rashford is under contract with United until 2028 and the former youth academy product’s move to Barcelona will be a 12-month loan deal with an option to buy.
Barcelona will cover the majority of Rashford’s mammoth United wages and the Red Devils attacker is set to take a 15 per cent pay cut to make the move happen.
Ferdinand said that Rashford faces a major task ahead of him at the Camp Nou and the boyhood United fan will need to prove himself to Barcelona boss Flick and Co.
“He’s got to go in there and add value to this team,” he continued.
“Take them from where they finished last season, where they won the league, got to the semi-finals of the Champions League and go one better.”
Barcelona can make Rashford’s move permanent from United for around €30m ($34.9m) if he impresses on his loan spell at the La Liga club.
