Manchester United fans wasted no time dropping their feelings on ex-Wolves ace Matheus Cunha after the summer signing’s Red Devils debut against Leeds United.
Matheus Cunha was Manchester United’s first major summer signing in the ‘Ruben Amorim era’ at Old Trafford after his arrival from Premier League side Wolves.
United wasted no time moving for Cunha early in the summer window and the Red Devils triggered the 26-year-old Brazilian attacker’s release clause at Wolves.
Wolves secured a £62.5m transfer fee from the Red Devils and United announced the signing of Cunha in June, with the player being a key target for Ruben Amorim.
Cunha impressed at the Molineux in the 2024-25 season and the United signing netted 17 times in 36 matches across all competitions for former side Wolves.
The Brazil international linked up with his Red Devils teammates last week after United players reported to Carrington for their pre-season training under Amorim.

Man Utd fans’ reaction to Matheus Cunha’s display vs Leeds United after Ruben Amorim handed the ex-Wolves ace his debut
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim immediately turned to Matheus Cunha for the start of the Red Devils’ pre-season summer tour, which kicked off in Europe.
The Red Devils travelled to Sweden and United faced newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena in Solna on Saturday afternoon.
Cunha slotted into Amorim’s tactical system for United by unsurprisingly playing in the left-sided No 10 role, a position that the Brazil attacker played in at Wolves.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, raved about Cunha’s ball-carrying ability during his superb first-half showing against Leeds.
“We finally have a ball carrier in Cunha,” one X user wrote.
Another United fan added: “Cunha’s movement. Every move is a potential foul from the opponent. We needed a ball carrier, [we now have] him. Motion.”
A third X user wrote: “Only real positive [of the first half] was Cunha’s performance. His ball-carrying is going to be so crucial.”
While a fourth Red Devils supporter tweeted: “Cunha’s ball-carrying is quite elite; can’t lie.”
Somebody else commented: “Cunha’s ball-carrying is the only positive [from the first half]. His ability to do the basic pass and move and then dribble away from his marker will be critical next season.”
“Cunha’s ball-carrying is the best in the team [and] not even Bruno [Fernandes] can touch him,” a sixth suggested.
And a seventh posted: “Nice start from Cunha so far, we can already see his quality, his acceleration and ball-carrying will be valuable.”
Someone else said: “Cunha’s ball-carrying is unreal, something we haven’t had much in our team for [a] while! You saw in that [first] half some nice touches and runs made by him. Will only improve with more fitness.”
What happened in the Man Utd vs Leeds United friendly match at the Strawberry Arena in Solna amid Matheus Cunha’s debut?
Amorim’s men were lively in the first half at the Strawberry Arena, with former Wolves ace Cunha making his presence felt in the attacking set-up for United.
But United could not break the deadlock against Daniel Farke’s men before the half-time whistle and both sides went into the break with a 0-0 scoreline on the board.
Cunha’s debut lasted only 45 minutes for United and Amorim swapped the Brazilian out ahead of the second half for former England and Chelsea star Mason Mount.
Neither Amorim’s side nor Daniel Farke’s men could find the winner in the second half and United and Leeds played out a 0-0 draw at the Strawberry Arena in Solna.
United will now resume their pre-season training under Amorim ahead of heading to the United States for the second leg of their pre-season tour this summer.
The Red Devils will head to New Jersey on 27th July and visit the MetLife Stadium, with United facing fellow Premier League club West Ham in East Rutherford.
