Manchester United ended the January transfer window without a new striker but the attention may already be turning to the summer in that regard.
That’s another transfer window down and Manchester United did not add any attacking reinforcements to Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Antony signed for Real Betis and Marcus Rashford completed a move to Aston Villa but United still failed to sign another attacker.
Mathys Tel joined Tottenham Hotspur despite Old Trafford links and United’s move for Christopher Nkunku failed.
Amorim at least has a new wing back with United completing the signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
The lack of attacking additions are a major concern though and that means United’s current forwards must step up.

Manchester United stance on Rasmus Hojlund
We still haven’t seen nearly enough from summer signing Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee joined United from Bologna over the summer but the Dutchman has yet to really show his goalscoring qualities.
Rasmus Hojlund has arguably been an even bigger disappointment though with his second season at Old Trafford yet to really catch fire.
The Dane has managed just two Premier League goals this season – and only one has come under Amorim.
Hojlund is now on a 13-game goalless run in all competitions and he has failed to build on 16 goals in all competitions last season.
Hojlund has attracted interest in Italy but Sky Sports claim that United still have belief that the striker can fulfil his potential at Old Trafford.
United don’t seem ready to give up on Hojlund just yet but there is no doubting that the pressure is on between now and the summer.
If Hojlund continues to struggle for goals, United may well be minded to listen offers for Hojlund come the end of the season.
Italian clubs may fancy signing the former Atalanta striker and with United keen to raise funds one way or another, Hojlund cannot feel secure right now.
Manchester United striker rumours already starting
Hojlund will surely have seen rumours suggesting that United are looking into signing a new striker this summer.
United are interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres with the Sporting striker unsurprisingly linked with following Amorim to Old Trafford.
Gyokeres will not come cheap this summer and it would be little surprise to see United cash in on Hojlund or Zirkzee – or maybe even both – to help retool Amorim’s attacking options.
Hojlund simply has to step up now in order to prove that he can be United’s star striker of the future – and that Gyokeres isn’t needed.
That belief in Hojlund won’t last forever and if he doesn’t recapture his goalscoring touch soon, he may find himself in trouble come the summer.
