Mason Greenwood inspired Manchester United to an important win over Burnley on Sunday.

The Red Devils teenager scored twice in the second half, extending his goal tally to nine.

Greenwood now has 15 Premier League goals to his name in total in his career, a joint record for a Manchester United teenager, equal with Wayne Rooney. He has until October to surpass that figure but may only need a week or two.

This season his total of nine in all competitions shows his campaign is finally beginning to take shape, after a slow start.

Again, he won’t take long until he hits double figures for a second successive season, having scored 17 last year.

In form

Greenwood took responsibility to score goals when United needed him. This wasn’t him netting a brace in a 5-2 thrashing of Bournemouth last season.

These goals against Burnley were the difference between winning, and failing to do so, before Edinson Cavani scored an injury-time third to add gloss to the scoreline of a match Greenwood had won.

This is the Mason Greenwood fans were so excited about when he broke through initially. He has got his confidence back.

He also has five assists to his name this season, an improvement on last season’s tally of four.

Fans are loving it

It is exciting to have a potential superstar striker who has developed through Manchester United’s academy.

Greenwood has followed in Marcus Rashford’s footsteps and could be even more lethal in front of goal.
