Alejandro Garnacho offered up a classy response when he was asked who is better out of Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona icon Lionel Messi.
The 19-year-old United winger is a big admirer of Ronaldo and previously admitted that the 38-year-old Al Nassr superstar was an idol for him growing up.
Garnacho shared the pitch with Ronaldo during the United legend’s second spell at Old Trafford, with the Portugal captain leaving the Premier League club in 2022.
The Spain-born winger has also played alongside Messi on the international stage with Argentina after committing his future to the reigning World Cup champions.
Garnacho represented Spain Under-18s before later playing for Argentina Under-20s, with the United star making three international appearances at senior level.

Garnacho on Ronaldo and Messi
Garnacho made a surprise appearance on a live stream with YouTuber IShowSpeed ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford today.
Speed, real name Darren Watkins Jr, made a special request to the Argentina winger and made Garnacho promise to do it if the United star scored against Spurs.
Garnacho was also asked about his preferred position on the pitch and the Argentina international showed his true class with his response to the question.
Speed has built an online person around his affection for Ronaldo, with the YouTube star asking Garnacho to pick between the United legend and Inter Miami star Messi.
“They [are] both great, bro, they [are] both great,” Garnacho said in a clip posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ronaldo’s influence on United star Garnacho
Garnacho previously showered Ronaldo with praise on social media when he played alongside him and the Portugal international’s influence on him remains strong.
The United winger has produced Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siu’ celebration in the past and did so after his incredible bicycle kick in United’s 3-0 win over Everton last November.
Argentina international Leandro Paredes revealed that Garnacho would be teased by his teammates over his admiration for United and Madrid legend Ronaldo.
“We joked about it with him,” he told DSports in 2023.
“He is very shy and does not answer. Poor guy, we drove him crazy.
“We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable.
“Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar.”
He added: “So it’s normal, nothing happens. Obviously, when he comes to the national team, he has to change a little bit because there is ours.”
