Alejandro Garnacho’s perfect four-word response about his preferred position, Erik ten Hag will love his mentality

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho showed his elite mentality after he perfectly responded to a question asking what his preferred position is on the pitch.

Garnacho has established himself as a key first-team player under Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag and the United star has shown moments of pure brilliance this season.

The 19-year-old United winger produced a show-stealing moment in the 3-0 win over Everton last November, with Garnacho scoring a world-class bicycle kick.

Garnacho has regularly been deployed out on the left wing under United boss Ten Hag, but the Argentina winger has equally impressed on the right flank this season.

The United star started on the right ahead of Antony for the Aston Villa clash in December and Garnacho scored a stunning brace in United’s 3-2 comeback win.

Garnacho’s preferred position for United

Ahead of United’s clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford today, Garnacho made a surprise appearance on a stream alongside YouTube star IShowSpeed.

The Argentina international’s chat with Speed included the 18-year-old American streamer asking Garnacho to commit to a bizarre request for the Spurs match.

TNT Sports on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, revealed that Garnacho was asked if he preferred playing out on the right wing or the left wing.

“Being on the pitch,” Garnacho responded.

United fans on X praised Garnacho for showcasing his elite mentality, with the Red Devils winger saying the kind of things that will be music to Ten Hag’s ears.

Ten Hag on Garnacho playing out on the right

Garnacho made a lasting impression on United manager Ten Hag during his sensational performance against Premier League side Villa at Old Trafford.

Antony has struggled with his form this season and Jadon Sancho was excluded from the United first team, leaving Ten Hag short of options out on the right.

Mason Greenwood was also loaned out to Spanish side Getafe, with the 22-year-old United loanee expected to be moved on from Old Trafford in the future.

However, Ten Hag welcomed Garnacho’s performance against Villa and highlighted the qualities that the United winger brought out on the right wing.

“With Garnacho on the right, you get a right-footer, a different type of player who can go inside but also go outside,” he told Sky Sports in December.

“We want those dynamics with swapping positions, combinations, getting in behind, bringing it out of the triangles and, from there, serving our strikers.”
