Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho made a bizarre “pinky promise” over one thing he would do if he scored against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday.
United return to Premier League action for the first time in 2024 later today, with kick-off against Spurs slated for 4:30pm UK time at Old Trafford.
Garnacho is expected to be included in the matchday squad for the Tottenham clash and is likely to be selected in the United starting XI under manager Erik ten Hag.
The 19-year-old Spain-born winger has played in 27 matches across all competitions for United this season and has scored five times and registered two assists.
Garnacho has been in the starting XI 12 times in 18 Premier League appearances in the current campaign, with the United winger often deployed out on the left.
However, the Argentina international did play out on the right wing this season and scored twice in a show-stealing performance in United’s 3-2 win against Aston Villa.
IShowSpeed’s request to Garnacho for Tottenham clash
Ahead of the Spurs clash, Garnacho made a surprise appearance on a stream alongside YouTuber IShowSpeed and received one request for the Spurs clash.
Speed, whose online persona is based around his love for Cristiano Ronaldo, asked Garnacho if he would celebrate in a certain way if he scored against Tottenham.
“Okay, first goal I will do, what do you say now?” Garnacho asked.
The 18-year-old American YouTube star and streamer’s request included Garnacho using Ronaldo’s ‘siu’ celebration followed closely with a squatting move.
Responding to Speed’s request, Garnacho burst out laughing and said: “You’re kidding me, bro?”
Garnacho makes ‘pinky promise’ with Speed
Speed slightly switched up his request to the Argentina winger, but the YouTuber kept his request for Garnacho to use Ronaldo’s iconic siu celebration.
The Ohio native, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, proceeded to ask Garnacho to do the siu followed by a barking noise that is synonymously tied to Speed.
“Okay, alright. Do the siu and bark. Just bark like this,” Speed said, before barking during the stream.
“Then, do like, Speed. Like, come on! Please, bro. Please.”
Responding to Speed, Garnacho asked: “So, siu and then like a dog?”
Speed continued: “Don’t forget. Don’t forget, bro. Don’t forget, please.”
Footage of the segment quickly made the rounds on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, as Garnacho agreed to Speed’s request.
Speed asked Garnacho to “pinky promise” to his request and reiterated his desire to see the United star do the celebration if he scores against Spurs at Old Trafford.
“Pinky promise, bro. Bro, you better do it,” he added.
