Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon after agreeing a deal with the player in January.
The transfer window is starting to take shape, and Manchester United still have plenty of work to do before the team is fully prepared for the 2025/26 season.
Negotiations are underway for a deal to take Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford to United, but the Red Devils can finally welcome a youngster from Paraguay by the name of Diego Leon to the club.
United signed Leon from Cerro Porteno in January with a scheduled arrival for July.
Leon was pictured leaving Paraguay for Manchester this week.
United have now officially announced that Leon is on their books and he will be part of the pre-season squad this summer.

Manchester United announce Diego Leon transfer
It’s been a long time coming, but Leon is finally a United player.
The left-back is keen to impress Ruben Amorim on pre-season, with United set to travel to the United States for a Premier League summer series.
Leon will get the opportunity to challenge Patrick Dorgu for a place at left-back, and it remains to be seen if he will be above or below Harry Amass in the pecking order. Competition is healthy and Amorim understandably wants more of it in his squad.
Making history as the first Paraguayan to sign for United, Leon will go straight into the first team and begin to train with the United first team on Monday.
The excitement surrounding Leon is high but the announcement did not contain any quotes from Amorim, Leon or football director Jason Wilcox.
What’s next for Leon?
Leon will meet many of his United teammates for the first time on Monday morning. That is when Amorim’s squad will regroup initially for pre-season training.
Amorim has already told five players to stay away for pre-season in attempt to keep positivity around the team. The arrival of Matheus Cunha and Leon will help achieve that.
Leon will hope to make his first appearance for United during the pre-season friendlies coming up over the next month.
