Manchester United fans have sent a clear-cut message to Erik ten Hag about Harry Amass after the 3-2 win over La Liga club Real Betis on Thursday.

Harry Amass arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 after Manchester United signed him from the Watford youth academy ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The 17-year-old has been part of the United academy and has had high expectations placed on him after impressing with the youth set-up.

Amass took part in training with the United first team in February and even made the bench for the Red Devils 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford in April.

The Red Devils player has been spoken of highly by England and United left-back Luke Shaw, who has tipped a bright future for Amass at Old Trafford.

Amass plays starring role for Man Utd vs Betis

Harry Amass has been able to secure regular playing time with the Manchester United first-team players as part of the club’s pre-season tour this summer.

The former Watford academy player came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg before featuring in the 2-0 win over Rangers last month.

United manager Erik ten Hag then opted to start Amass for the Arsenal match and the youngster produced a solid display in the 2-1 defeat to the Gunners.

Amass returned to the starting XI for the Real Betis match on Thursday and the United full-back created a sensational assist at the Snapdragon Stadium.

The United defender produced a superb cross from the left flank and managed to find Amad Diallo, who smashed home a powerful strike from inside the box.

Amass impressed with his overall performance before Ten Hag withdrew him in the second half and replaced him with United youngster Sam Murray.

Man Utd fans react to Amass vs Betis

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, wasted no time in waxing lyrical about Amass’ performance in San Diego, California.

Red Devils supporters made their feelings clear that Ten Hag must call Amass up to the first team for the 2024-25 Premier League season.

United fans are keen to see Amass serve as back-up to Luke Shaw, who missed the second half of last season due to injury, rather than buying a new left-back.

“I’m loving Harry Amass so far. Such a great and talented LB. He looks ready for first-team football. So composed and confident, too,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “I have seen enough of Harry Amass. Keep him in the first team.”

Another wrote: “Harry Amass… I’m in awe! We don’t need a new LB, add him to the first team next season.”

“I’d really love it if Harry Amass gets integrated into the first team this season. He can definitely serve as a back-up for Luke Shaw,” a fourth tweeted.

While a fifth X user posted: “Harry Amass should start the season with the first team. Great kid!”

Somebody else said: “Please have Harry Amass [in] the first team and not send him on loan. What a talent.”

A seventh suggested: “I think Harry Amass will be brought into the first team this season, not worried about LB.”

And an eighth tweeted: “Hopefully, [the] 2024/25 [campaign] will be a breakthrough season for Harry Amass. Such a super talented kid.”
