Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been plunged into doubt.

Ruben Amorim made a bold call on the weekend by leaving out Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the matchday squad against Manchester City.

Manchester United’s head coach explained his decision before kick-off, hinting that the duo had dropped below his expected standards off the pitch.

“We try to evaluate everything: training, performance, game performance, engagement with the team-mates, pushing the team-mates up,” Amorim said.

Ineos have backed Amorim’s decision to drop the duo, and while he insists there is a way back for Marcus Rashford, rumours of an exit have ramped up.

Marcus Rashford linked with Man United exit

Even before being dropped against City, Rashford’s attitude has been questioned and his poor body language criticised.

Reports last week suggested United are open to selling Rashford and have even slashed his asking price down to as little as £40m.

Amorim has decided Rashford needs to be sold to reset the culture at the club, and a move away could come as early as the upcoming January transfer window.

Rashford has several transfer options should he choose to leave United with PSG interested and potential suitors in the Premier League.

Saudi Arabia is one extreme option for Rashford, but a new attractive exit route has also emerged.

Rashford has also admitted that an exit would appeal to him, telling Henry Winter: “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.”

Marcus Rashford open to MLS move

According to ESPN, a move to MLS at some stage in his career would hold great appeal for Rashford.

Rashford and Casemiro were criticised for visiting the US over the international break, with Rashford spotted visitng a New Yorks Knicks game during his time off.

Amorim had no issue with the trip but hinted that it wouldn’t have happened under his management.

The report adds that Rashford is a big fan of US sports and is open to moving to the MLS, but his £40m asking price and huge wages are two significant obstacles.

It would take a salary second-only to Lionel Messi at Inter Miami to convince Rashford to move to the US. Only the two Los Angeles teams, LAFC and LA Galaxy, are in a position to offer that kind of money.

Should Rashford move to the MLS, he would follow in the footsteps of legendary United winger David Beckham, who starred for LA Galaxy and now owns Inter Miami.
