Manchester United fans have dropped their two cents after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s latest stance on Marcus Rashford amid a ‘cultural reboot.’
Marcus Rashford rose through the ranks of the Manchester United youth academy and the England star has been a prominent member of the first-team squad.
The 26-year-old United forward has struggled for form since his scintillating 2022-23 season, with Rashford netting 30 times in 56 matches across all competitions.
Rashford’s form fell off a cliff last season and the United star only managed to score eight times in 43 matches during the 2023-24 campaign.
The United player, who lost his place in the England squad for Euro 2024 in the summer, has already seen a better goalscoring return in the 2024-25 season.
Rashford has netted seven times in 24 appearances so far, but the Three Lions star’s future at Old Trafford has been cast in doubt after Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
He has featured under Ruben Amorim, but the United manager left Rashford out of his squad for United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.

What is Ratcliffe’s stance on Rashford?
According to The Guardian, Manchester United are now prepared to ‘put up for sale’ Marcus Rashford after he has been ‘marginalised’ at the Premier League club.
The newspaper reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to oversee a ‘cultural reboot’ at Old Trafford after a ‘decline’ in standards for ‘more than a decade.’
It is believed that the 72-year-old Ineos chief is ‘ready to cut his losses’ over Rashford in the January transfer window if the right approach is made.
The Guardian claims that United manager Ruben Amorim has ‘decided’ that the England star should leave amid the need to push through a ‘shift in culture.’
Rashford, who is currently under contract until 2028, is earning a hefty £365,000 a week at United and the club would ‘countenance a cut-price offer’ for the player.
Man Utd fans react to Rashford news
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, felt differently about Ratcliffe’s decision to allow Rashford to be sold as part of his ‘cultural reboot.’
One fan said: “Love this attitude by the club. Hopefully, it will be a lesson to the rest of the players if they want to stay.”
Another added: “Wow. There’s been rumours, but now it’s real. He needs to leave for his career and for the betterment of Man Utd.”
A third X user wrote: “Probably best for all, but I’d like it to be done in a positive way. He gets a big move and wins some trophies and we get a hefty fee to build. He’s done so much previously it shouldn’t be forgotten.”
“I don’t like the way they’ve done this, but he definitely needs to leave for his own good. Go have fun in Paris and enjoy your football,” someone else posted.
While a fifth tweeted: “Would be a travesty if this happens. I think Rashy deserves criticism for his poor play over the last two seasons. But the abuse and this is an overreaction. End of the day, if he goes, he goes. We will survive like we always have. But a sad ending to a fairy-tale story.”
A sixth said: “Understandable, it will be sad to see him leave if true, he is an icon, but the club is bigger than any player (see Becks/Ronaldo). Hopefully, we get a more than adequate replacement and also continue the trend of using academy graduates who are good enough.”
“Massive move for [Man United] if Rashford leaves! Could be a new chapter for the club, but it’s tough to imagine him gone,” another added.
Somebody else suggested: “If Ruben Amorim feels it’s time, then I back the decision. Sometimes a fresh start is what’s needed for both player and club.”
