Ruben Amorim will be desperate to get Marcus Rashford back to his best at Manchester United.

Inconsistency has been Marcus Rashford’s biggest problem at Manchester United. He enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom after bursting onto the scene at Old Trafford, but there is a nagging feeling that he is failing to reach his true potential.

At his best, Rashford scored 30 goals in the 2022/23 campaign. However, he has struggled to maintain that form and now questions are being asked about his future at United.

United fans slammed Rashford vs Plzen with supporters questioning his attitude before he was hooked off in the second half.

Rashford’s body language has been a concern with the 27-year-old often looking dejected on the pitch. He has started brightly under Ruben Amorim, but whether he is a long-term fit for his 3-4-3 system is yet to be seen.

Man United open to selling Marcus Rashford

Ineos plan to continue their overhaul at Old Trafford and only six players are unsellable at United – Rashford did not make the cut.

Instead, reports last week suggested United would sell Rashford for £40m in 2025 despite him previously being valued at £120m by the club. It is a brutal reflection of Rashford’s drop in form.

As one of United’s top earners, selling Rashford would solve PSR issues at Old Trafford which have recently put a hard cap on the transfer budget.

Sir Alex Ferguson considers Rashford as United’s best player, but at 27 years old he is struggling to step up and become a leader in this side.

Rashford could still turn things around and thrive under Amorim, but United’s new head coach has been warned that could be a very difficult task.

Ruben Amorim may struggle to work with ‘impenetrable’ Rashford

Amorim’s biggest challenge since joining United has been trying to get his ideas and style of play across to his new squad in such a short time.

The change in style and philosophy requires players to be open and receptive. That is a trait that sources suggest Rashford lacks.

According to The Telegraph, sources used the word “impenetrable” to describe Rashford, with former United bosses finding it very difficult to cut through with the player.

One source added: “You’d have what you felt was a really good conversation with him, but then the next day it was like it had gone in one ear and out the other.”

Another said: “I know his birth certificate says he’s 27, but he is closer to an 18-year-old in other ways, so the support has to be right.”
