Luke Shaw showed his quality at both ends of the pitch to inspire England to a 2-0 win over Germany.

The Manchester United left-back provided the assist for Raheem Sterling’s opening goal to break the deadlock.

Then minutes later Shaw’s surging run forward released Jack Grealish who crossed for Harry Kane to double England’s lead.

It was a famous win for England at Wembley with England progressing to the quarter-finals at Euro 2020, with the draw really opening up.

Simply outstanding

Shaw was solid defensively in helping England keep a clean sheet, in addition to his assist for the first goal and pre-assist for the second goal.

Ian Wright lauded Shaw’s performance on social media, while United supporters expressed delight.

United fans lauded Shaw as one of the world’s best, and rightly so. There are very few left-backs playing at the same level right now.

Shaw ended the game with 46 touches and 90.6 per cent pass completion.

Shaw’s performance also served to ram Jose Mourinho’s ongoing criticism back at him.

The Manchester United star has enjoyed a fantastic individual season for his club and is carrying it on at international level.

Now his displays are being appreciated by an even wider audience, and he deserves it.
