Manchester United’s players are in relaxed mood ahead of the Europa League final, according to Luke Shaw.
Speaking to the club website, Shaw says the players are not being consumed by nerves, and are enjoying the lead up to the final in Gdansk.
Shaw explained: “I look around and everyone seems very relaxed, enjoying the moment being here in the final. We have not been in one for a while. I think most of the lads are just looking forward to getting out there.
“There is no need for nerves, we’re here for a reason, I think we deserve to be here. And on Wednesday night we just need to go out there and do what we’ve done to get here.”

Shaw’s comments are what United supporters should want to hear. A relaxed camp sets the backdrop for a good performance.
After experiencing the heartbreak of four consecutive semi-final defeats in two seasons, getting to a final is refreshing.
With such weight of failure of recent semi-finals, the squad likely felt more nervous for the semi against Roma than they do for this game.
Nerves will build
Shaw and the squad may be feeling relaxed right now ahead of the Villarreal tie, but this could change in the lead up to kick off.
That’s why it helps that players like Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani have played in huge matches like this before.
The more experienced players will help the younger stars through.
Even players like Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and David de Gea who did not start the 2017 final, have experience of the build-up to kick-off and how to handle it behind the scenes.
Sir Alex is the trump card
Sir Alex Ferguson has joined United in Poland and has been on hand to give advice during the trip.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the club website: “Just to have him around when we eat in the restaurant, I’m sure the players if they wonder about something, they can ask him.
“He’s always about for a chat because this is the club of his heart. I hope he is going to enjoy it tomorrow night because I have to say I owe most of my career to him.”
