Louis Saha now settles who is ‘wrong’ in Roy Keane and Bruno Fernandes’ public Man Utd feud

Former Manchester United and France striker Louis Saha has dropped a passionate rant about the ongoing rivalry between pundit Roy Keane and Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes slammed Roy Keane during a recent appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast after the Manchester United legend’s ruthless criticism of him.

Keane was critical of Fernandes chasing the Premier League assist record and the Sky Sports pundit went as far as misquoting the 31-year-old Man Utd captain.

Fernandes admitted that he even contacted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to try and find out Keane’s mobile phone number, so that he could directly text the Red Devils icon.

Louis Saha on why former Man Utd teammate Roy Keane shouldn’t have taken aim at Bruno Fernandes

Roy Keane responded to Bruno Fernandes’ podcast appearance after the 54-year-old Irishman stoked the flames further of their rivalry with a cryptic Instagram dig.

The iconic ex-Manchester United midfielder was ruthless about Fernandes after the Red Devils’ final home match at Old Trafford in the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Louis Saha played alongside Keane under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford and even the Frenchman had a hard time defending his ex-Man Utd teammate in the feud.

The 47-year-old former United star insisted that Keane was overlooking the bigger “impact” that he was having with his war of words with Red Devils ace Fernandes.

“I think Roy Keane got this one wrong,” he said on TikTok.

“It’s a bit of a shame because we all know we respect Roy; we respect his legacy as a captain of Manchester United, and he doesn’t really like what Bruno Fernandes spread on the field.

“Everyone has the right of his own opinion, but it’s more about the case of like, having that impact, that role, because those guys can definitely criticise the players, the team, the club, and all that, but he has an impact because the players are sometimes very, very scared to perform under those kinds of pressure, because it’s not the same pressure that it was 10 [to] 15 years ago, where social media was not that big.

“We really have to really understand the impact, and I really help a lot of players [with] mental health issues with the tools that we have in our hands. It’s not easy.

“So, just try to understand; yes, maybe Bruno is not your typical lion, but he is a lion. He never hides, he always asks for the ball, always tries to represent, perform.”

Louis Saha on the importance of mental health for players amid Roy Keane and Bruno Fernandes’ back-and-forth spat

Saha claimed that there is a major responsibility for people to be accountable with their words amid the continued — and growing — media exposure around football.

“Some players are not that strong,” he added.

“They are not prepared. They’re not ready for that, and it is extremely hard. And I think that’s why we damage sometimes [sic] the quality of our game because those players are scared to be mocked, to be pictured as a donkey.

“So, we have that kind of responsibility, and we need to understand that. I know that Roy will always refer to the era that he knows that he’s been playing and representing so well, but that’s not the same.”

Saha continued: “So, all those, like, using social media, using podcasts, understanding that there is millions of people. It’s not like the media, the papers, The Sun, the newspapers that we used to have.

“It’s not the same. It’s just not the same. It’s 10 times worse, 10 times more impactful, 10 times more viral and we have to understand that.

“It’s impacting the young guys, and the young guys are not working, are not [like] [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic or [Kylie] Mbappe, who are super, super strong. So, many players are not that equipped. So, we have to be careful.”

Fernandes broke the Premier League assist record on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign after Man Utd’s 3-0 win over Brighton at the Amex.
