Cristiano Ronaldo ended his goal drought with a fantastic strike for Manchester United to set the team up for a 2-0 win over Brighton.
Ronaldo’s goal was his first of 2022, coming after a tough five game stretch in which the team drew three games in a row 1-1.

The Sun had reported that on Sunday, Ronaldo was the first player to arrive at Carrington and the last one out, as he put extra effort in to turn his form around and work hard in the gym, following a disappointing performance a day earlier against Southampton.
Former United maestro Lou Macari spoke to MUTV after the game and said Ronaldo’s success against Brighton was testament to his hard work.
Macari said: “This should be a lesson to all footballers. If you are haing a bad time, get yourself fitter, get in that gym do what footballers should be doing, and he gets his reward.
“He is going to be in that box, he will get goal, he will miss chances and get annoyed too. He’s a top player.”
Ronaldo won’t ease up
Macari is right, Ronaldo does deserve credit for getting back on track, his goal was a terrific strike from the edge of the box and was not an easy one to score.
He actually missed two far easier chances later in the game and could have had a hat-trick. The big positive was that he was in position to score them.
Netting this goal was a huge lift for Ronaldo, and don’t think it will mean he rests up either. United’s number 7 will be working harder than ever to kick on from here and prepare for the Leeds match at the weekend and next week’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.
The strike was Ronaldo’s 15th goal of the season, with Bruno Fernandes following him with eight goals, after adding a second on the night to make it a 2-0 victory.
