Ruben Neves is among Manchester United fans’ most wanted right now.
Neves is viewed by many United supporters as possessing an ideal combination of defensive ability and passing range, while he is also reportedly available for transfer this summer.
The Athletic reported Wolves would will consider letting Neves leave for just £35 million. Talksport claimed a fortnight ago that United were leading the race.

Neves has already made his feelings about United clear. Speaking after facing the Red Devils with Wolves after Bruno Fernandes’ Old Trafford debut, he talked up United and his Portugal teammate.
Neves told Sky, reported by The Star: “It’s always good, playing against our team-mates from the international team. I know him very well, I’m really happy for him. He’s in a great club in a fantastic league.
“He can now show everyone what he can do. There is a lot because he’s a great player. I’m really happy for him.”
Neves was seen embracing Fernandes before kick-off in the tunnel and then the pair chatted keenly to compare notes after the 0-0 draw back in February 2020.

Neves’ comments on Fernandes have proved correct. He has shown what a huge player he is for the Red Devils, with 40 goals for United since making his debut.
Last season he also added 18 assists on top of his 28 goal haul, and he will be even more determined to kick on further this campaign and try to set new benchmarks.
Bruno at the centre of Neves to United talk
Fernandes and Neves know each other from the Portugal squad having played in the UEFA Nations League finals together in 2019. This past summer they were part of the Euro 2020 squad.
A report from 90Min this summer claimed Fernandes had given United a recommendation to sign Neves.
Last night Twitter users noted how Fernandes’ header image includes a photo of Ruben Neves in the background, to the far right. Was he dropping a subtle hint?

Despite the excitement about Fernandes’ Twitter header, it has always been the same image. This is not a fresh move on his part. The only picture which has changed is his smiling profile image.
If Neves does sign for United, the header will prove to be an impressive bit of foreshadowing, and Fernandes will have to really update the image, to get one of them both in United shirts.
On Sunday, Neves played and scored in a 2-1 pre-season friendly win for Wolves against Coventry.
Whether United push ahead with interest remains to be seen. ESPN report United have spoken to his representatives, along with Saul Niguez’s and Eduardo Camavinga’s, and are in the process of making a decision on which direction to shape the midfield. This could also be impacted by decisions made with regard to selling and loaning players. For now it is a case of ‘watch this space’.
If the chance is offered for Neves to join this ‘great club’, it is very unlikely he would turn the opportunity down.
