Liam Delap could have frosty reunion with Man United star after bust-up at Old Trafford

Liam Delap could have an awkward meeting with one Manchester United player if he completes a move this summer.

The top priority for Ineos is to bring a top-class centre-forward to Manchester United this summer.

Ruben Amorim has bemoaned his side’s poor quality in front of goal this season with Rasmus Hojlund suffering a confidence crisis.

It seems Ineos have made Liam Delap a top target following his impressive debut season in the Premier League with Ipswich Town. Delap is available for £30m if the Tractor Boys are relegated, which could be confirmed this weekend depending on results.

Liam Delap could have frosty Noussair Mazraoui reunion

It seems United are one of the leading clubs in the race to sign Liam Delap, and Ineos appear keen to get the deal done as soon as possible.

The summer transfer window is set to open on June 1st after Premier League clubs voted to bring it in early. Delap could find himself in a United shirt by the time the club jets off for the 2025 pre-season tour.

If Delap does complete a move to United, though, he could have a frosty reunion with Noussair Mazraoui after they clashed at Old Trafford.

United beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at Old Trafford back in February, and there was a heated moment when Delap clashed with Manuel Ugarte.

After spotting the incident, Mazroui raced over and pushed Delap to the ground before standing over him.

Ugarte posted a photo of Delap after the win – they could seen call each other teammates at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim will like fiery Liam Delap

Delap showed character and fight at Old Trafford and that is exactly what Amorim is looking for in his players.

United scouts admire Delap’s qualities as a striker, but there has also been praise for his “work ethic” and “attitude” behind the scenes while working under former United coach Kieran McKenna.

Speaking about Delap’s attitude, McKenna told TNT Sports: “I’ve been really pleased with how he takes on information, because he is quite a fun-loving lad. He is pretty light-hearted most of the time and you get those reports before you sign him.

“But I have to say, from the first time you sit down and go through videos with him and talk to him about the game, go through details and tactical things, he is incredibly receptive and very football smart.

“He takes on information well and can apply things well, so I think that has been a pleasant surprise how high his learning capacity is and how he can take on information and implement things and how open he is to discussing his game and improving. So I think they are pretty good ingredients for a young player.”

Given that Amorim is trying to implement his style of play at United, having players who are good at taking on information will be critical.
