Keep, sell or loan decision on every Man Utd player after the 2025/26 season

Manchester United’s 2025/26 campaign has come to an end, and now Ineos face a decision over multiple players this summer.

We already know that Casemiro is leaving Manchester United this summer, along with Tyrell Malacia and others.

But United still have a lot of decisions to make this summer.

Here is a verdict on what should happen with every senior player who featured this season, including those who could be in contention after impressive loans.

Goalkeepers

Senne Lammens: As far as debut seasons go, Lammens has had one of the best we can remember. Signed to challenge Altay Bayindir, he took over and never looked back. The best part is that he will only get better.

Altay Bayindir: After a horrific start to this season, Bayindir has been permanently on the bench this campaign, with a return to Turkey feeling all but official. United won’t lose money on his sale, making it a smart time to let him go.

Andre Onana: This season has been refreshing without error-prone Onana in goal, but unfortunately, his loan club cannot afford to buy him. But no matter what, United should be selling this summer.

Tom Heaton: As third choice goalkeeper, Heaton is everything United could ask for despite his age. He won’t play, but his dressing room impact is worth retaining him in this role this summer. Expect another one-year extension.

Radek Vitek: With United back in Europe and all the cups next season, Vitek could easily play 15 games as a cup goalkeeper. Vitek swept the Bristol City end-of-season awards, and returning to United to play in the cups would be ideal for the club.

What should Man Utd do with Radek Vitek in 2026/27?

Defenders

Luke Shaw: This season has been Shaw’s best in terms of his performances and fitness. Shaw won’t depart this summer, but his contract expires next summer, and an extension looks unlikely.

Diogo Dalot: Probably the most harshly treated player in the squad, Dalot is a lot better and more consistent than he gets credit for. Will still be here next season.

Harry Amass: After a brilliant loan at Sheffield Wednesday during the first half of this season, he has been out injured since January. It’s a shame, because another stellar loan might have had Amass challenging for a United spot, but now he probably needs another loan.

Tyrell Malacia: This season has seen Malacia barely play, but when he has its been a disaster. Time for him to be released and try to rebuild his career elsewhere.

Noussair Mazraoui: The Moroccan hasn’t reached the heights of his debut season for United over the past 10 months, with consistent fitness issues, and United look worse when he plays. Could be a good time to cash in for profit.

Leny Yoro: Season number two has seen Yoro show plenty of promise, but not enough considering his hype as the next best thing. He should be relied upon a lot more next season.

Harry Maguire: Was set to see his contract expire, but Maguire has re-signed with United and will be here next season at the very least.

Lisandro Martinez: While it would be advisable for United to sell Martinez if a big offer came in, it is unlikely that this happens and therefore the Argentine will likely remain, but as more of a squad player. He cannot be relied on to be a starter anymore.

Matthijs de Ligt: After missing six months through a mystery back injury, De Ligt should be sold if an offer comes in. The problem doesn’t feel like it will magically be cured.

Ayden Heaven: Not only should Heaven be kept at the club, but his performances recently suggest he should actually be starting as a first-choice centre-back.

Tyler Fredricson: The rumours are that Fredricson is set to be released, and this is a decision we can understand as he isn’t up to United standard.

Diego Leon: After moving from Paraguay, Leon has spent this season settling in and trying to get up to speed with his teammates. But he still needs a lot of work, and he would be best on loan to develop in a professional environment, as opposed to the academy.

Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes: Captain Fantastic, is a player United cannot lose this summer if a title charge is the goal next season. Rumours indicate he might be getting a new contract, which is completely deserved. Selling shouldn’t even be considered.

Kobbie Mainoo: Since Ruben Amorim left, Mainoo has been sensational for United and has signed his new contract, keeping him at the club until 2031. No chance he leaves this summer.

Manuel Ugarte: Season two has affirmed what we learned in season one: Ugarte just isn’t good enough, and he seems likely to leave this summer, with clubs lining up to sign him, which will fund our midfield rebuild.

Mason Mount: Season three at Old Trafford for Mount, and yet another in which his impact has been minimal. He showed signs of life under Ruben Amorim, but has no place under Carrick. Perhaps a Frank Lampard reunion would excite him.

Jack Fletcher: Debuted this season, but still feels a little off, regularly contributing, so a loan would be best to see him continue evolving. High League One would be a smart move for him to show what he can do.

Tyler Fletcher: Like his twin brother, this season saw Tyler make his first-team debut, but he could soon be overtaken by others. Should get a loan similar to Jacob Devaney and return a much better player.

Toby Collyer: Two loans for Collyer this season, and both were spoiled by injury. But United shouldn’t write him off because his performance levels have been strong. A better placed loan for Collyer makes the most sense.

Dan Gore: This season has been Gore’s best on loan, playing regularly, and largely, his injury record has improved. Now, United should be looking to loan him to the Championship or a side at the top end of League One. His contract was extended earlier this season, so clearly he’s not being written off.

Jacob Devaney: One of the standout loanees this season has been Devaney, with the 18-year-old playing for St Mirren and standing out as one of their best already. Performed against Celtic and Rangers, now he could be key in pre-season for United. Perfect option to provide some midfield depth.

Forwards

Matheus Cunha: Despite a slow start at the club this season, Cunha has been brilliant since December, growing into his role as a leader. Cunha has become almost a second Bruno Fernandes

Benjamin Sesko: After scoring once before Christmas, Sesko has benefited from Amorim’s leaving, scoring 11 goals since the turn of the year, despite missing games through injury. He looks primed to kick on next season.

Patrick Dorgu: It looked like Dorgu had redefined himself as the next Gareth Bale after his goal against Arsenal, only for injury to spoil that breakthrough. He will be back next season, better with a full pre-season.

Bryan Mbeumo: Overall, Mbeumo had a similar debut season to the one Cunha had, just with his goals and form coming at the start of the season instead.

Amad: After such an impressive 2024/25 season, Amad won’t be as pleased with his performances during this season. Just two goals and clearly lacking confidence, next season needs to be better.

Joshua Zirkzee: It’s been a difficult career at Old Trafford for Zirkzee, and this summer, it should reach its natural conclusion. Unfortunately, he just isn’t good enough.

Shea Lacey: Primed to break out properly next season, Lacey is going to be phenomenal, and there is no way he should be sold.

Bendito Mantato: Quite a surprising academy graduate under Amorim was Mantato, but his one cameo didn’t lead to anything. Probably needs either lots of U21 football or a loan next season.

Jadon Sancho: Newly crowned Europa League champion, but he will be released next month.

Marcus Rashford: While quality-wise we should take Rashford back in a heartbeat, he clearly doesn’t want to play for United anymore, so hopefully Barcelona stump up the cash.

Chido Obi: This season has been a campaign of learning for Obi, and he ends the season a much better number nine than how he started.
