Radek Vitek has swept the awards boards clean at Bristol City to mark the ultimate vindication for a season well done.

The wildest expectations have been exceeded by Radek Vitek at Bristol City, despite the team falling short of expectations as a collective.

Arriving as an emergency backup in the summer, Vitek soon usurped the first-choice goalkeeper in Bristol and ended the season with 41 league appearances.

Now, as the season ends, Vitek has received the ultimate vindication for his efforts as he swept the awards board clean.

Radek Vitek gets triple honours at Bristol City

Vitek’s stats don’t jump off the page, but anyone who watched Bristol City weekly will know that their season would have been much worse without his heroics.

He conceded 54 goals in 41 appearances, keeping 12 clean sheets, but his superhuman saves and command of the area often lifted pressure off the defence.

He became a teammate’s favourite, the fans fell in love with him, and near the end of his spell, he also received backing from Roy Hodgson as a mark of the ultimate approval in English football.

All that led up to a remarkable end of season for Vitek, who has won the club’s Player of the Year award, Young Player of the Year award, and Players’ Player of the Year award as per the club’s official X account.

Man Utd fans will be reminded of what David de Gea used to have seasons like for United at his peak, and that is exactly what Vitek has achieved.

Senne Lammens’ rise at Old Trafford complicates things for Vitek a bit, but he’s shown that he’s a Premier League keeper in waiting.

His future will be one of the most interesting stories to follow in the summer because he’s too good to stay as a backup, and the path to usurping Lammens is too complicated.

Perhaps a Premier League side will take a chance on him, which would be the ideal case scenario for United. They can then take a call on his future at the end of the next season.
