Casemiro won’t play against Brighton
On Sunday, United face a Brighton side pushing to clinch European qualification.
As for Michael Carrick’s side, United have sealed third spot and will be competing in the Champions League next season.
Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Carrick confirmed that Casemiro won’t be available as he’s played his final match for United.
“First of all on Casemiro, I kind of decided that last week would be his last game,” Carrick said.
“So, I think that went as well as we all could have hoped, to be honest.
“He’s been fantastic and I’ve said a lot of things about Case, how well he’s done for me since I’ve been here and for the whole club. It was decided it would be a good time for him to finish really.
“It just felt the right time I think, for Case, it was decided and he was part of that as well. It was the right time, there is an element of balance, like I’ve just said, the last game, we’re not done, the season’s not done for us. We’re really conscious of that.
“So, there’s a real balance between trying new things, moving forward, keep evolving, there are always games we’ll try different things in that some might notice, some people might not notice others. So, I think the biggest thing is we’re really conscious to respect this last game, what it stands for and obviously try and make the best of it for us. We want to go down there and put in a good performance and try to win the game.”
Casemiro received a standing ovation from the Old Trafford faithful after being substituted in United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian veteran leaves Old Trafford after making 160 appearances for United since his transfer from Real Madrid in 2022.

Michael Carrick congratulates Arsenal on Premier League title success
Arsenal became Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years during the week when Man City were held to a draw against Bournemouth.
When asked about Arsenal’s triumph, Carrick hailed Mikel Arteta’s side for showing consistency in recent years and stated that they deserved the title.
“First of all, I’d like to say huge congratulations to Arsenal and Mikel and the players and all the staff.
“I think when you win the league, you win because you deserve it. So much over such a long period of time needs to be done so well in order to win it. They’ve been really consistent over a number of years now and the patience and the improvement that they’ve had of taking steps, I think they’re at a stage now where they deserve to win it so.
“As a football club, of course, that’s where we want to be. We’ve been there in the past, and it doesn’t mean necessarily you’ll always be there again, but that’s certainly, as a football, what we’re striving for as soon as possible, really.”
