Add as preferred source on Google

The Kobbie Mainoo era at Man Utd has solidified with his contract extension, and it has provided a hint about Bruno Fernandes’ future in the process.

All the noise around Kobbie Mainoo will finally quieten as he has punctuated his turnaround under Michael Carrick with a contract extension at Man Utd.

The player who was close to being sold under Ruben Amorim is now a key man for Man Utd, which is a narrative that can be repeated for Bruno Fernandes as well.

Therefore, it’s pretty poetic that Mainoo’s comments upon his renewal are an indicator of where Fernandes’ future lies as well.

Kobbie Mainoo’s new contract is OFFICIAL – let’s hear your instant reaction!!!

We nearly lost him…!

Kobbie Mainoo notices Man Utd’s potential

Mainoo has committed the next five years of his career to Old Trafford to continue a journey that began more than a decade ago.

He has seen the worst Premier League era of the club after Sir Alex Ferguson, so he’s a good authority on what this club is trending towards.

After signing his extension, Mainoo struck a confident tone that he can feel a certain ‘momentum’ at the club, and he’s determined to be a part of it.

Statements like these are general platitudes upon signing a new contract, but Mainoo’s heart beats for the club, so if he’s seeing potential, then something’s happening.

Carrick has worked miracles this season, the recruitment structure above him is ticking along nicely, and the academy is as good as it has ever been.

The momentum Mainoo feels is clearly trending upwards, and all of a sudden, “Project 2028” doesn’t sound so fanciful anymore.

Therein lies the hint about Fernandes’ future at the club.

Mainoo’s comments hint Bruno Fernandes could stay

Fernandes has effectively wasted the prime of his world-class career, dragging a poor team to relevance.

Like Mainoo, he was close to being sold last summer when Saudi Arabia came calling, but he chose to stay and bring glory back to United.

That can’t be the job of a single person, however, which is why he sought assurances from United ahead of a crucial summer.

He has a release clause worth €65 million in his contract, and wants to see United take another step towards challenging for major honours.

Mainoo, feeling the momentum at the club, hints that the club has made certain promises about their future trajectory.

That is what Fernandes wanted before committing his future to the club, so it looks like United’s “Portuguese Magnifico” will be doing magnificent things in front of Man Utd fans for a while yet.
