Jesse Lingard says he is ‘gutted’ after having to pull out of the Manchester United squad to face Everton today.
United confirmed that Lingard has been withdrawn from the squad on Tuesday after testing positive for Covid.
The Manchester United midfielder says he is disappointed to have miss the game and says he has no symptoms.
Lingard was part of the United squad from he first game of pre-season.
He has taken confidence from his loan move to West Ham and scored in the 4-2 loss at Queens Park Rangers.

As Lingard said, it’s a shame that a strong pre-season has ended like this.
Lingard has given himself a real chance of re-establishing himself as a United player.
Marcus Rashford’s absence after shoulder surgery could give Lingard an opening to get into the first team in the opening months of the season.
Delayed returns for the likes of Jadon Sancho also increase that likelihood.
Lingard could yet still leave United but the first thing he needs to do is make a full recovery and then we’ll see when he’s cleared to join the squad.
Hopefully he can make it back for the opening match of the Premier League season, against Leeds next Saturday.
