Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard says he is proud of the England team after their agonising Euro 2020 final loss.
England lost the final on penalties after a heartbreaking shootout, which saw his close pal Marcus Rashford among the three players who missed.
Lingard was not at the tournament, having been cut from the squad in the lead up to it.
It was a harsh decision, but England had many attacking options and Rashford in particular barely got a kick.
Sadly when Rashford really was needed, his penalty hit the post.
Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka also missed penalties in the shootout.

It was a heartbreaking way for England to lose on home turf. Perhaps it was inevitable all along.
Just like Manchester United in Gdansk, too much focus should not be on the shootout itself.
England did not create enough chances against Italy and paid the price on a shootout lottery after failing to win the game in normal time. Perhaps Lingard’s creativity could have been useful after all.
