Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is currently out in Germany on loan at his former club.
There is no other way to frame it, Jadon Sancho has taken a backwards career step by re-joining Borussia Dortmund.
The return to his former club was a desperate move from a player whose career and reputation has sunk lower than anybody could have imagined when he joined Manchester United in 2021.
But that’s what happens when you call out a manager on social media, refuse to apologise and sit out for three months. His last Manchester United start was back in May 2023.

Jadon Sancho still has fans at Dortmund
Jadon Sancho’s spell at Borussia Dortmund ended on a high and he is still highly admired back at his former club.
Sancho recently revealed he talked to a Dortmund teammate about returning to the club before his bust-up with Erik ten Hag, and there is a real desire to see him stay there – not just among Manchester United fans.
The winger has played 186 minutes across four games for Dortmund so far, with one assist. He played only 77 minutes for United early in the season.
German newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten report Sancho was confronted by a Dortmund fan during training, who wanted to know if he was staying.
“Are you staying?”, the supporter asked, a question with clear implications for his Manchester United future.
Sancho gave an immediate response, recognising it is just too early to commit, saying: “We’ll see what happens.”
Sancho must make commitment
The financials of a deal are tough for Borussia Dortmund, and require a financial commitment from Jadon Sancho.
SportBild report Sancho must take a significant pay cut to re-join Dortmund on a permanent basis, due to his hefty salary at Manchester United.
A fee between the club must also be agreed, but this is pointless without indication Sancho is willing to accept a lower salary. His real desire to stay at Dortmund will be found out.
