Jadon Sancho’s final stance on apologising to Erik ten Hag ahead of near Manchester United exit

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is nearing his long-anticipated exit from the club.

For months now Jadon Sancho has sat on the sidelines for Manchester United, he did not start a game in August, and then has not even made a matchday squad since.

This came to a head in early September when he rebuked manager Erik ten Hag‘s criticism of his approach in training.

The international break then came, which many thought would diffuse the situation and Sancho and Ten Hag would patch things up. They didn’t.

Sancho refused to apologise

Erik ten Hag is big on discipline at Manchester United and has previously criticised the broken culture he inherited at the club.

He would not stand for a player calling him out on social media, and wanted an apology. Sancho refused, and sat out the last three months.

According to HITC Football, Sancho was still refusing to apologise to Erik ten Hag right up until last week.

There had been efforts made by club staff and players to try and get the winger to back down.

It would, perhaps, have been a little strange if Sancho had backed down and apologised at the end of December, having waited this long, but he might have been tempted, if none of the transfer options on the table looked appealing.

It appears his wish is to rejoin Borussia Dortmund, with negotiations ongoing over a loan deal, which will involve a small fee to cover some of his wages.

United have one Sancho hope

Manchester United want Jadon Sancho to have a successful second half of the season in Germany, which might create a bidding war for his services in the summer.

Right now a loan deal is necessary because the only permanent offers would be derisory ones.

The summer may be a better market for United to sell him. Supporters would prefer to see a clean break, but a loan deal is better than him continuing to hang around and damage his career in the background.
