Manchester United will have a new head coach from November 11th onwards as Ruben Amorim is set to arrive. But will this appointment please Marcus Rashford?
It is all but confirmed that Erik ten Hag’s permanent replacement will be Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
39-year-old Amorim is United-bound, in a move which sees arguably the most exciting young coach in Europe make the step up to an elite level.
It is important to note that Amorim will take up more of a head-coach role rather than a manager role, with Ineos‘ expert structure to make the transfer decisions.
With the former Portuguese international taking charge, there will be several winners and losers at United, given his change in style and structure.
Upon taking charge, one player Amorim will be tasked with extracting more from will be 27-year-old Marcus Rashford.

What Marcus Rashford is thinking about Ruben Amorim
As much as player power is not a thing at United anymore, the opinion of the players still holds a lot of weight, considering they need to believe in the message being conveyed.
It was clear Ten Hag lost this last season, but with Amorim, there is a feeling he is the perfect man to bring excellence back to Old Trafford.
Any success to be had is likely to be achieved by the help of Rashford and now Rudy Galetti has reported for TeamTalk exactly how United’s No.10 is feeling about the appointment.
It’s explained that Rashford is pleased at the prospect of Amorim joining United. This is because he is convinced that the Portuguese coach will be key in helping elevate his performances and the team.
The feeling is mutual, with the report adding that Amorim ‘greatly appreciates’ the versatility of Rashford across the forward line and thinks he can help him return to his heights of 2022/23.
Amorim could deploy Rashford in three positions for Manchester United
Amorim will be licking his lips at the attacking options he will have at Old Trafford, and we imagine Rashford will be an instant starter.
Front three depth for Manchester United under Amorim
| Left-wing | Striker | Right-wing |
| Rashford | Hojlund | Amad |
| Garnacho | Zirkzee | Antony |
| Scanlon | Biancheri | Lacey |
As seen from the table above, there is an impressive level of depth for Amorim to work with – and there are also several other academy players who have the ability to step up in the future.
Rashford’s game has evolved this season. He has shown he can be deployed across the front three in any position as he has shown this season his quality on the right side.
Rashford has four goals and three assists this season so far, and his form is gradually improving. However, Amorim will feel he can double this output at least.
The best argument for Rashford’s improvement is looking at the left-winger in Amorim’s system at Sporting, with Pedro Goncalves averaging a goal contribution every 69 minutes this season.
