How Marcus Rashford and Ruben Amorim were feeling about working together pre-Man Utd, it’s now worlds apart

The time has come, Marcus Rashford is leaving Manchester United, with a move to Aston Villa his destination.

After a January of ‘will he or won’t he?’, Rashford is now Villa-bound, with Fabrizio Romano all but confirming the news on Sunday morning.

Manchester United fans were unsure about Rashford’s departure, but it had been a long time coming. Numerous United legends all knew Rashford was destined to leave.

It’s always sad to see an academy graduate at Manchester United go – but it’s probably time for a new venture for Marcus.

It just was never going to work between him and Ruben Amorim – despite what the forward thought when the new head coach’s arrival was imminent at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford was looking forward to Ruben Amorim’s arrival

After numerous Rashford and Erik ten Hag fallouts, Marcus was actually excited for Amorim to arrive at Manchester United.

Rudy Galetti reported for TeamTalk that Rashford was convinced that the Portuguese coach would be key in helping elevate his performances and the team.

And apparently, the feeling was mutual. The report stated that Amorim ‘greatly appreciates’ the versatility of Rashford across the forward line and thinks he can help him return to his heights of 2022/23.

This is something, we now know, didn’t come to fruition – and that’s for either party. It could have been so different and looking back at this information can’t help but make you feel a little upset it didn’t work out.

Now Rashford can’t wait to see the back of Amorim

Just like many managers before him, Rashford’s relationship with Amorim slowly deteriorated – and this is quite frankly the only reason he’ll be leaving Carrington.

Amorim has stated numerous times his feelings on Marcus, and that is that he doesn’t train well – which is essential for a United player.

The man to try and fix this will now be Unai Emery, who will add Rashford to his exciting Villa attack.

Will Rashford play for Manchester United again? Well, that remains to be seen, but a lot will be dependent on how he performs at Villa Park for the remainder of the season.
