Real Madrid have re-elected Florentino Perez as their president and he has made his stance on Aurelien Tchouameni clear.

Manchester United will want a marquee midfield arrival this summer to lead their summer overhaul, and Aurelien Tchouameni is a ‘dream’ target according to reports.

Tchouameni could follow in Casemiro’s footsteps and replace the Brazilian at Old Trafford, but signing the French midfielder from Real Madrid could be difficult. Tchouameni is valued around £70m.

On Sunday, Real Madrid confirmed that Florentino Perez won their presidential election, and his stance on Aurelien Tchouameni has been clear throughout his campaign trail.

Florentino Perez’s view on Aurelien Tchouameni

Under Perez’s presidency, Tchouameni was involved in a bust-up with teammate Federico Valverde, and the news of their clash spread like wildfire.

Despite the clear squad unrest, Perez has insisted that Tchouameni is staying.

When asked about Tchouameni’s future during his campaign trail, Perez said he is “absolutely, definitely” staying.

Now that Madrid fans have put their faith in him to lead the club forward, he will want to honour that promise.

Perez’s re-election also means that Jose Mourinho is set to return at Madrid, and reports have also claimed that he wants to keep hold of Tchouameni at the Bernabeu.

Man Utd may have to move on from Aurelien Tchouameni

Heading into the summer window, it was widely claimed that Elliot Anderson was United’s top target, it now seems he is close to joining Manchester City.

Tchouameni was second in United’s list, and he now also seems to be off the table.

But Ineos prepared for this situation by identifying as many as 24 midfield targets for United this summer. If some are unavailable, there won’t be panic at Old Trafford.

A £38m deal for Ederson has already been struck, and now United can move onto other targets such as Mateus Fernandes, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Alex Scott.

This summer’s midfield overhaul can still be a huge success, even without Anderson or Tchouameni.
