Graham Potter picked out four Man Utd players for praise, one is under-fire

Erik ten Hag is seemingly on thin ice with reports suggesting Sir Jim Ratcliffe has talked with Graham Potter about the job.

This season for Manchester United has been bitterly disappointing so far and it has left Erik ten Hag in a tough position.

Three losses in the last four games ahead of a dreaded trip to Anfield have seen rumours regarding potential Ten Hag replacements accelerate.

It has been suggested that should Ten Hag lose his job, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already chosen the successor and that is former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, which has left pundits stunned.

While Ten Hag isn’t expected to be sacked right now, a heavy loss to Liverpool and some poor form over Christmas could change that and as we’ve seen before, reports of support for the manager mean very little.

But with Potter linked with a move to Old Trafford, we’ve looked back at the four current United players that he’s previously praised.

Four Manchester United players Potter has praised

Last October, Potter was Chelsea manager and ahead of facing United at Stamford Bridge had praised four United players in particular.

On this list was the current captain along with a few players currently under fire at Old Trafford.

He said: “They’ve got the threats of [Marcus] Rashford, Antony, [Jadon] Sancho and Bruno Fernandes plays a key role for them.”

Good news for three United players

Potter’s comments will be great reading for three of the names he mentioned.

Sancho hasn’t been seen since September after a falling out with Ten Hag. Meanwhile, Antony has been under fire since he joined the club and will be delighted to hear a possible new manager also rates him.

Rashford is another who’s been struggling lately and has lost his place in the starting line-up, so a change of managers is probably something he’d be in favour of.

Lastly, Bruno will be happy, as Potter being a fan of him probably makes it likely he retains his captaincy.
