Manchester United’s latest stance on Erik ten Hag’s future

No decision will be made on Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United until INEOS are through the door, according to reports.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure after damaging defeats to Bournemouth and Bayern Munich in the space of four days.

Despite United looking much more compact and secure against the German champions than they did against the South Coast side, the midweek defeat was their 12th of the season.

These results are not sustainable which is why, unsurprisingly, questions are beginning to be asked of the Dutchman after a dismal season.

No decision to be made yet

However, despite the poor results and the struggle for attacking consistency, no decision will be made on the Dutchman’s future yet.

According to a report from The Athletic, the current interim CEO Patrick Stewart, who took over from Richard Arnold, will not decide on the 53-year-old’s departure due to his temporary status.

The report goes on to say that due to John Murtough’s role in the appointment of the Dutchman in the first place, he might not be keen on sanctioning his departure, either.

This could potentially leave the Red Devils in a state of bother with the growing uncertainty off the pitch certainly not going to help matters on it.

Ten Hag’s future

There is no indication as of yet that the Red Devils would be keen on replacing the former FC Utrecht manager but a discussion would surely be had, fairly soon, on his future.

The conundrum over the next few weeks may well be whether the fan base are keen on backing the Dutchman. During the defeat to Bayern, the atmosphere at Old Trafford looked flatter than expected and more needs to be done about this.

With a rough month ahead of them, what will be crucial for the Red Devils is if they can string a few wins together following what has been a poor season, that could be the boost they’ve been looking for but it isn’t an easy start as they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, without their captain Bruno Fernandes.
