Ruben Amorim has taken a liking to Manchester United wonderkid Godwill Kukonki, bringing him into his first team squad.
Godwill Kukonki was named in the Manchester United matchday squad for the very first time against Arsenal.
While just an unused substitute, there is real excitement about Godwill Kukonki’s potential. The 16-year-old has impressed in training and has earned his spot.
Kukonki has been starring for United’s academy, and the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim has accelerated his development.

Godwill Kukonki was one more more than a dozen youngsters to feature in Ruben Amorim’s first training session.
Yet he is the one who has stuck around, and Amorim spoke about him after the game, commenting: “He’s 16, but he impressed me a lot.
“I think he’s ready, he’s very adult to handle the demands of the Premier League.”
Amorim handed 27 debuts to academy players at Sporting, and Kukonki is on course to become his first at United.
Kukonki does not look out of place training alongside his peers, and Amorim is confident the dominant defender can handle the top flight.
Kukonki sends message
Godwill Kukonki had a message for Manchester United supporters after the game against the Gunners.
Kukonki wrote: “Valuable experience with the squad 🙏🏾 Thanks to the manager and the staff for this opportunity. Thank God”
Lisandro Martinez is back from suspension this weekend against Nottingham Forest, so there is no guarantee Kukonki retains his place in the squad.
Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are both working their way back from injury, along with Luke Shaw – while Leny Yoro made his comeback against the Gunners.
