With special talents like the in-form Amir Ibragimov and deadly striker Chido Obi-Martin, it is easy to understand why supporters would be so excited by Adam Lawrence’s side.
However, few would have predicted the first player Ruben Amorim has been looking at seriously as a first-team prospect.
Having included Godwill Kukonki in first-team training last week, Amorim had the 16-year-old in his match-day squad against Ipswich Town. Now, after Kukonki was excluded from the U19s trip to the Netherlands to face AZ Alkmaar, a history-making claim has been made.

Godwill Kukonki tipped to make Manchester United history
For those aware of Kukonki, his progression into the first team under Amorim will come as no surprise. However, the manner in how quick it has happened will be quite a shock.
Despite making just one U21 appearance for United and being 16, Kukonki has leapfrogged the likes of Jack Kingdon as the defender Amorim seems to be most excited by.
Now, according to the Express, United are tipping Kukonki to make history as a Red Devil.
It is reported that Amorim requested that Kukonki remain with the first team this week. This is despite the young defender’s senior debut not being considered imminent.
However, there is a feeling within the club that the 6ft 5in wonderkid is destined to break records at the club. This is because no defender has made their Premier League debut for United before being aged 18, with Kukonki not even 17 until February.
Ruben Amorim could turn Kukonki into a world-beater
As far as central defenders go, Kukonki has the potential to be among the very best to be produced at Carrington and Amorim clearly sees the potential.
To be so tall at the age of 16, Kukonki boasts an incredible physical advantage over his peers – however, it will now be Amorim’s job to help him use it.
Under Amorim’s tutelage, Kukonki could become a superstar, with his passing also extremely promising, lending itself well to this United side.
Kukonki will not step into the first team in the next few weeks and be a star, but Amorim seems convinced that he is talented and therefore the next few months could see him debut perhaps even in the Europa League or FA Cup.
