Ruben Amorim will face former United coach Kieran McKenna in his debut match and the Portuguese will be under big pressure to kickstart his reign with three points.

United currently sit 13th in the Premier League table but are only four points off Chelsea in third. Ruben Amorim can restore hopes of a top-four finish if he can hit the ground running.

What to expect from Ruben Amorim’s Man United debut

Amorim’s arrival at Carrington has brought the feel-good factor back to United and there is a buzz throughout the fanbase.

It seems he has also made a good first impression on the squad with United players ‘blown away’ by Amorim during his first week of training.

He held his first training session on Monday but Amorim only coached 11 senior players with the rest of United’s squad still returning from international duty.

There will only be two training sessions with a full squad before Sunday’s trip to Ipswich, but Amorim has promised fans they will see an “idea” of his playing style against the Tractor Boys.

Amorim is expected to implement a 3-4-3 formation from his very first match after enjoying huge success with it in Portugal.

Gary Neville and Paul Scholes predict Ipswich vs Man United scoreline

There are so many unknowns about how United will play on Sunday which is equally as nervewracking as it is exciting.

United legends Gary Neville and Paul Scholes have put it all on the line on The Overlap and predicted the scoreline for Amorim’s first match against Ipswich.

After Scholes asked for his thoughts on the game, Neville replied: “[I think] United win, do you?”

Scholes replied “I don’t know. I like the 3-1 actually, there will be goals won’t there?”

However, the duo agreed on a 2-1 victory for United after Neville said: “We’ll have to go 2-1 then. 2-1 United. United will score with five minutes to go to get the second.”

A dramatic late winner to give Amorim his first win as United boss? That’d do nicely.
