Ruben Amorim’s first interview as Manchester United boss is here, and there have been some exciting revelations.

Having been in Manchester all week, the first interview has been long anticipated.

Ruben Amorim was first pictured at Carrington on Monday, however, he is yet to take charge as he awaits his work visa.

Despite this, Amorim met his players on Tuesday including Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro – with the latter viewed as a generational talent by the new head coach.

Manchester United supporters have been dying to hear from Amorim all week, with the club releasing small clips at a time – but now his full first interview has been unveiled.

Set in a picturesque empty Old Trafford at night time, the scene was set for the Portuguese coach to speak and in doing so, he will have excited much of the fanbase.

What Ruben Amorim said in his very first Manchester United interview

In typical United fashion, the club waited until Friday night to release the interview. However, Amorim’s personality and character made it all worth it.

MUTV asked Amorim about his early plans for United, and his response was something we fans are not entirely used to.

“Since day one, we have to start with [implementing] our identity”, Amorim explained.

“We have to focus on our game model, how to press, how to pass, how to run. My first goal is identity.”

Continuing, Amorim touched on tactics, warning fans we will see a clear style.

“For sure you will see an idea on the tactical point of view.

“You may like it, you may not – you will see positioning, something that we want to reach that kind of level.”

This is all rather unusual, considering Erik ten Hag failed to implement a clear identity in his two years.

Erik ten Hag failed to do what Amorim’s first goal is

What is so exciting about Amorim’s comments is that he has signified that from the first game, against Ipswich and Kieran McKenna, there will be a clear style.

Nobody expects this to be a flawless system, considering he will have maybe five days at the most training his new squad, but to see phases of play immediately would be a sign that he is further along than Ten Hag ever managed.

Ten Hag abandoned his style after two games, however, Amorim does not seem like the type of head coach to crumble under a bad start.

No matter the formation or results, the initial few weeks are about the players adapting and Amorim getting his message across clearly, building a club identity is so important – and with it being Amorim’s first goal, it shows he is completely aware of the the project he has.
