Ruben Amorim will be in constant talks with Manchester United’s hierarchy about the transfer strategy for 2025.

Reports suggest that Ruben Amorim will not be handed a big transfer budget at Manchester United, unlike his predecessors.

United continue to wrestle with the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules which have shackled the club’s budget in recent transfer windows.

Instead, the 39-year-old will be tasked with improving the current squad, and it seems he is already making a good start.

Amorim held his first United training session on Monday and Marcus Rashford and Casemiro reacted positively.

Man United linked with Angel Gomes deal

If there is not much money to spend in 2025, United will have to box clever in the transfer market and sniff out some bargain deals.

Former United academy star Angel Gomes has been linked with a return to Manchester after impressing at Lille and earning himself a call-up to the England team.

Gomes is open to re-joining United and could enter talks as soon as this January with his Lille contract set to expire in the summer. He could sign a pre-contract agreement that would see him officially sign in the summer.

Former Manchester United academy coach Dean Whitehouse wants to see Gomes return and play alongside fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo in United’s midfield.

Ruben Amorim is in full support of Angel Gomes signing

It was quickly picked up on that Amorim was announced as the head coach of United rather than a manager.

It means Amorim will not have as much transfer control at United compared to previous managers, but he still has a say in the recruitment process.

According to The Sun, Amorim is in full support of United pursuing a deal for Angel Gomes with the Portuguese boss a “long-term admirer” of the 24-year-old despite Gomes being sent off against Amorim’s Sporting side.

The report adds that United directors Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox believe Gomes can be a crucial part of Amorim’s side and therefore view him as a “major target” for 2025.

United believe they can lure Gomes back to Old Trafford as a potential long-term replacement for Casemiro in midfield.
