Erik ten Hag and his staff were left furious in the first half when Ethan Pinnock opened the scoring while Matthijs de Ligt was forced to the sidelines.

But the Dutchman rallied his side at half-time and goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund turned the game on its head and gave United a vital three points.

The Red Devils are still only 12th in the Premier League table but are only six points off the top four.

Alejandro Garnacho stole the show vs Brentford

Garnacho kickstarted United’s comeback with a superbly-taken finish just moments into the second half.

The 20-year-old latched onto Marcus Rashford’s “incredible” cross from the right to score his fifth goal of the season.

Garnacho was named Man of the Match for his performance, earning over half of the vote from the United fanbase. Ten Hag was full of praise for Garnacho‘s display but challenged the young winger to replicate the performance on a consistent basis.

He has easily been one of United’s brightest players this season, and his eight goal contributions means Garnacho is going stride for stride with Kylian Mbappe.

Alejandro Garnacho named in Team of the Week

Garnacho was the standout player at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and his “fantastic” performance is now being recognised.

Gabby Agbonlahor named his Premier League Team of the Week and Garnacho made his lineup for the first time this season.

Via talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “A great ball from Rashford for the first goal, but everyone can look at Garnacho’s goal and think, oh, it’s easy. It’s not easy.

“That is a tough finish, let me tell you. I have scored a similar goal to that. You have to keep your eye on the ball. You have to side-foot it because if you try and hit it with your instep, you could miss the ball. Great finish.

“Even after that, he was driving, he was getting the ball, he was running at defenders. That’s what Manchester United want to see week in week out from Garnacho, and I thought he was fantastic. And he was the reason why Manchester United won the game.”
