Manchester United fans are furious after learning that the Red Devils will miss out on highly rated Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel to Tottenham on deadline day.
The Red Devils have been one of several Premier League clubs linked with Mathys Tel in recent weeks amid the player’s desire to leave Bayern Munich.
Tel has attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa, with 19-year-old Frenchman under contract with Bayern until 2029.
The Bayern attacker was signed from French outfit Rennes in 2022, but he has struggled for regular playing time under Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.
Tel, who informed Bayern of his desire to leave the German club, has only managed 14 appearances for his side this season and has picked up one assist.

Tottenham hijack Man Utd transfer for Tel
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that Mathys Tel will be heading to Tottenham.
He reported that the Manchester United-linked player is expected to sign for Spurs on loan, with the deal not including an option to buy.
Tel is now heading to London to complete his move to the Premier League club before the transfer window shuts on 3rd February at 11pm.
It was believed that United’s move for the Spurs-bound player collapsed on Sunday, with Florian Plettenberg claiming that the Red Devils were Tel’s ‘preference.’
According to reports from Sky Germany, it was claimed that Bayern Munich were keen on the inclusion of an obligation to buy the player at the end of the loan spell.
Reports in Germany also suggested that Bayern were also open to making the transfer permanent rather than agreeing to a straight loan deal.
Man Utd fans react to Tel news
United fans on X pulled no punches towards Ineos over their failure to land Tel and how Tottenham agreed a deal with Bayern without a buy option in place.
Ruben Amorim has seen his attacking options further limited in the January window after the departures of Marcus Rashford and Antony.
One Red Devils supporter wrote: “Ineos loaned out Antony and Rashford and then [proceeded] to lose Mathys Tel to Spurs of all teams??? Wow, man, this is confirmation to me that Manchester United will never be great again. I’m so done.”
Another posted: “Mathys Tel legit already rejected Spurs [because] he wanted to come to United [and] they somehow messed that up. Now, United have [four] forwards and are an Amad [Diallo] injury from just being a non-entity in every competition they play in. What a mess of a football club. INEOS have a lot to answer for.”
Someone else commented: “Mathys Tel wanted Manchester United but the INEOS were so slow that we lost him to Tottenham. Ineos are about to turn Manchester United to OGC Nice.”
A fourth tweeted: “So, Mathys Tel wanted to join us. Was available for a straight loan with no buy option and INEOS still couldn’t get it done??? What are they doing?”
“Mathys Tel to Tottenham on a straight loan, nice work Ineos,” another X user added.
While a sixth claimed: “This Mathys Tel situation just further showcases how useless Ineos are. You had a player [who] only wanted to join us and finally became available on a straight loan with no buy option. Yet somehow, they still bottled it.”
Somebody else wrote: “They said Ineos were ruthless but hey, Mathys Tel to Tottenham, we just lost a war to Tottenham; I cry for my Manchester United.”
