Ryan Giggs’ brother pulled no punches towards Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United and England player completed his transfer to Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford’s last appearance for Manchester United came in December 2024 after the Red Devils’ 2-1 comeback win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim dropped the 27-year-old United star for the subsequent Manchester derby clash against Manchester City at the Etihad last December.

The 40-year-old United manager demanded more from Rashford and hinted that the Red Devils forward could have climbed his way back into the starting XI.

However, Rashford suggested that his future was away from Old Trafford after he was axed from the United squad for the 2-1 win over Manchester City.

The United player was linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and AC Milan in recent weeks, but Rashford completed his move to Aston Villa.

Giggs’ brother reacts to Rashford transfer

Marcus Rashford inked a deal with Aston Villa that will keep him at the Premier League club until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

According to BBC Sport on Sunday, Villa have the option to buy the Manchester United loanee for a £40m transfer fee.

It is believed that Villa are not paying a loan fee for the player and a hefty 75 per cent of Rashford’s wages will be covered by the Premier League club.

Rashford remains under contract with United until 2028 and the player could return to Old Trafford in the summer if Villa do not exercise their buy clause.

Rhodri Giggs took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and mocked Rashford’s decision to move to Villa Park ahead of the window closing.

The brother of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs took aim at Rashford for previously saying that he wanted a “new challenge” last December.

“Stop I can’t breathe so let’s get this right, you wanted a new challenge and this where you want it,” Rhodri Giggs wrote.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA [sic].”

Rashford took to Instagram and said it was an “easy decision” for him to sign for Villa and he praised manager Unai Emery’s “ambitions.”

Posting a message to his followers, he wrote: “I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

“I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the manager’s ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started.

“I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”
