Alan Shearer snubbed Mason Mount from his Premier League Team of the Week and instead picked two other Manchester United stars after their performances against Sunderland.

Mason Mount blew away Manchester United fans on Saturday afternoon after the 26-year-old former Chelsea star’s stunning performance against Sunderland.

The United No 7 returned to the starting line-up after Ruben Amorim dropped Matheus Cunha to the bench and Mount had a meaningful impact for United.

Bryan Mbeumo picked out Mount with a cross for United’s first-half opener against Sunderland in the opening 10 minutes of the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Mount superbly brought down the ball from Bryan Mbeumo’s cross with his left foot before the ex-England star smashed home a low strike from his right foot.

The former Three Lions international was lively in the left-sided No 10 role in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for United and earned widespread praise for his display.

Mason Mount misses out on Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week, but Leny Yoro receives the nod from the Newcastle legend

Mason Mount received a standing ovation from the Old Trafford faithful after Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim brought him off in the second half.

The former Chelsea ace came off in the 65th minute and was replaced by summer signing Matheus Cunha for the remainder of United’s match against Sunderland.

Despite his impressive showing against the Black Cats on the weekend, Mount was unable to climb into Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.

Shearer, on the other hand, did include Leny Yoro in his picks and the Premier League legend raved about the United defender’s impact in the match.

“Played a huge part in a first clean sheet of the season and gave very little away,” he told the Premier League’s official website.

“Man Utd look so much more secure when he’s in the side.”

Leny Yoro is not Alan Shearer’s only Man Utd pick for his Premier League Team of the Week after the 2-0 Sunderland result

Leny Yoro was dropped from the starting XI for United’s 3-1 Premier League away defeat to Brentford last month, with the Red Devils left deeply exposed in the match.

Following United’s result against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, Amorim brought Red Devils talent Yoro back into the fold against Sunderland.

Yoro started the match alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw and the United defensive trio were stationed in front of summer signing Senne Lammens.

Picking Senne Lammens for his team, Shearer said: “The goalkeeper did the simple things very well on his debut.

“He made some good saves and commanded his penalty area in a much-needed win over Sunderland.”

Amorim handed Lammens his long-awaited United debut against Sunderland and the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper impressed in his first showing for the Red Devils.
