Mason Mount’s performance in the Premier League clash against Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday sparked a powerful reaction from Manchester United fans.
Mason Mount found the back of the net in the eighth minute at Old Trafford after being picked out by a Bryan Mbeumo cross and showed superb control in the box.
The 26-year-old brought the ball down with his first touch on the left before putting the ball on his right and slamming a powerful low shot into the back of the net.
Manchester United built on their opener against Sunderland after Benjamin Sesko found himself in the right place at the right time in the first half at Old Trafford.
Diogo Dalot’s long throw-in was flicked on from Sunderland defender Nordi Mukiele and summer signing Benjamin Sesko poked the ball home from close range.
United took a 2-0 lead over Sunderland into the half-time break on Saturday and the Red Devils managed to hold on to their advantage in the second half at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha was dropped to the bench on Saturday and Mason Mount returned to the starting XI for Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Mount’s stunning showing in one of the two No 10 roles in Ruben Amorim’s system for United earned him high praise from Red Devils supporters on social media.
One X user wrote: “Mount is definitely proving why he should be starting most weeks.”

And an eighth posted: “Mason Mount is so relentless; these are the kind of players that deserve to start every [match]. Just play for the badge first of all before you even begin to worry about tactics or anything else.”

Ruben Amorim has talked up Mount since his arrival from Sporting CP in 2024 and the United manager’s faith in the player was once again rewarded on Saturday.
Mount’s spell at Old Trafford since his arrival from Chelsea has been deeply impacted by injuries, but the United No 7 has shone when he has played.
The 2-0 Premier League win over Sunderland once again highlighted how influential ex-Chelsea ace Mount can be when he is fully fit and securing regular playing time.
Mount was withdrawn in the second half at Old Trafford and Amorim brought summer signing Matheus Cunha on the pitch for the former England international.
