Paul Scholes has admitted that there is one name on his mind for who could be the ideal replacement for Ruben Amorim as Manchester United manager.
Ruben Amorim has remained in charge at Old Trafford after a bumpy start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, despite mounting speculation over his future.
The 40-year-old United manager arrived at the Premier League club in 2024 from Portuguese side Sporting CP and replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat.
Amorim saw out the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign with the Red Devils, which ended with United in 15th place in the Premier League table.
The ex-Sporting CP head coach has had to weather early criticism this season after United have only managed three wins from their opening seven league matches.

Paul Scholes rates Newcastle manager Eddie Howe as a potential replacement for Ruben Amorim as Man Utd head coach
Ruben Amorim eased up the pressure on his shoulders at Old Trafford after Manchester United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Sunderland on Saturday.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways ahead of the October break and Amorim oversaw a steady showing from United against Sunderland at Old Trafford.
The mounting speculation over Amorim’s future at United has seen the club linked with several managers, including Oliver Glasner and Sir Gareth Southgate.
However, Paul Scholes has admitted that he could see Eddie Howe as United manager if Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe axed Amorim from the Red Devils.
“Eddie Howe, Eddie Howe,” he said on The Overlap.
“I’m not sure about his mate [assistant manager Jason Tindall], but definitely him.”
Jamie Carragher disagrees with Paul Scholes over Eddie Howe being Man Utd manager if Ruben Amorim is sacked
Eddie Howe has been linked with United before and the Newcastle manager has been widely credited for his work with the Magpies at St James’ Park.
The 47-year-old Newcastle head coach has been with the Magpies since 2021, following the end of his second managerial spell with Bournemouth in 2020.
Jamie Carragher suggested that he could see a “little problem” if United chose to pursue Howe as a potential replacement for Amorim at Old Trafford.
“I think that is a little problem for Eddie Howe,” he said.
“I think Eddie Howe is a brilliant manager, and his number two is obviously a character, and they get on really well, but I just think a lot of fan bases, what you’ve just said there, would be an argument.
“Would say the same about the late Eddie Howe, but maybe not his mate.”
United are 10th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils will return to action after the October international break against Liverpool at Anfield on 19th.
