A Dutch reporter and good friend of Erik ten Hag has revealed how he has reacted to his sacking at Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag is yet to break his silence after being sacked as Manchester United manager on Monday morning.
The 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday afternoon was the final straw for Ten Hag, who had led the Red Devils to their worst-ever Premier League start.
The 54-year-old spent just over two seasons at Old Trafford and added to United’s prestigious trophy cabinet by winning the League Cup and FA Cup during his time in charge.
Farewell messages flooded in from United players, who bounced back on Wednesday evening with an emphatic 5-2 win over Leicester City under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Erik ten Hag is ‘devastated’ by Man United sacking
Before the dust had even settled around Ten Hag’s sacking, United’s leadership moved quickly on to appointing Ruben Amorim as his successor.
The Dutchman is still yet to speak out on his United exit, but Ten Hag’s former teammate and “good contact” Hans Kraay Jr has opened up on his reaction.
As quoted by Dutch outlet Soccernews, Kraay Jr said: “I understand that he is getting €17m and then people say: ‘he will go somersaulting through Manchester’.
“No. He [Ten Hag] is completely, completely devastated. He is completely ruined.”
Rival Premier League managers have also flooded in with sympathetic messages with Pep Guardiola making a bold Ten Hag prediction while Arne Slot backed Ten Hag to return at a “big club”.
Ineos have been ruthless and decisive
The writing was on the wall for Ten Hag to be sacked as United manager after the terrible run of results, but it was a slight shock that they decided to pull the trigger after the West Ham defeat given that United were extremely unlucky not to come away with points.
However, United have been crying out for real football leadership for years and Ineos have shown they can be ruthless in the past week.
They wasted no time sitting around after Ten Hag’s dismissal and have moved quickly to get a deal over the line for Amorim.
United chiefs jetted out to Portugal to get the Amorim deal finalised and Sir Dave Brailsford confirmed ‘it’s done’ after the Leicester victory.
Amorim is set to take charge of United during the November international break, so it is up to Van Nistelrooy to lift the mood after Ten Hag’s sacking. He has made a pretty good start already.
